Hiring a driver is different from hiring most other household staff. You are handing someone the keys to your car, and often to your family's safety on the road. Here is the checklist we use for every driver we place in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
1. Verify the Licence, Not Just Ask for It
Anyone can claim to have a valid licence. Ask to see the original, check the expiry date, and confirm the licence category matches the vehicle you own (manual vs automatic, and the correct vehicle class).
2. Check the Driving Record
A clean driving record over several years matters more than raw years of experience. Ask directly about accidents, traffic violations and how long they have held a licence.
3. Confirm Route Knowledge
A driver who genuinely knows Islamabad's sectors, Rawalpindi's routes and the motorway network will save you time every single day. This is easy to test in the interview, ask them how they would get from your home to a specific landmark or the airport at a specific time of day.
4. Call Previous Employers Directly
This is the single most important step and the one most people skip. A phone call to a previous employer takes ten minutes and tells you more than any CV. Ask specifically about punctuality, care with the vehicle, and how they handled unexpected situations.
5. CNIC and Police Character Certificate
Verify the CNIC against NADRA records and request a police character certificate. This is standard practice for any role that involves driving your family, and any hesitation from a candidate here is a red flag.
6. Set Clear Expectations Upfront
Before the driver starts, agree in writing (even a simple message is enough) on:
- Working hours and days off
- Whether personal use of the vehicle outside work hours is allowed
- Who covers fuel and maintenance
- Reporting expectations for any incidents, however minor
What Drivers Cost in Islamabad
Driver salaries in Islamabad typically start at PKR 35,000 per month, depending on experience, hours and whether school runs, airport trips or long-distance travel are part of the role.
Skip the Guesswork
Verifying all of this yourself takes real time and, if you don't already have a network for reference checks, real risk. Every driver we place has already been through CNIC verification, a police character certificate check, and a direct reference call to at least one previous employer, before you ever meet them.
Request a driver and we will match you with a verified candidate within 24 to 48 hours.
